Prince William is 3!!!!

Our little Prince is 3 today! We will be singing, eating cake and braking a pinata this afternoon. Thomas the Tank is the theme this year, it should be fun!

Happy Birthday my Prince! You are the sweetest little ball of cuteness that I have ever laid eyes on. I am so very proud of you and can't wait to see what you will learn this year!
Love you, Mama

A Blue Cast

That is what William will be wearing for 3 weeks.

He took a tumble down the stairs yesterday evening. He probably fell down about 4 steps, carpeted. He cried for a little bit but then seemed fine. He slept through the night. He woke up this morning and we went about our business like any other day. He was in the playroom playing and he fell forward and had to catch himself with his hands in front of him. He cried in pain and held his arm, I knew it was broke. I called his pediatrician and they told me to take him to the ER, so I did. They did x-rays and confirmed that his arm was slightly broken, not a bad break but a break nonetheless.

He will have to wear the cast for 3 weeks and then he will be in a brace for a week or two after that. The cast is water proof, thank goodness. He seems to be tolerating the cast well. But I am sure that will change.

For the love of a picture...

Will and I tried to have a "photo shoot" this evening. It didn't go so well. It is very hard to get him to sit still, look at the camera and smile. It is nearly impossible. Here are some of the rejects!
Looking away from the camera, eyes closed...
Mr. Cow had to get in on it. Will making Mr. say CHEESE...
This is his favorite one, running away from me...
Swatting the gnats...
Having a Miralax moment...
I think that I may have gotten a good one, but I am saving that one!

The Day...

Today was the dreaded day. The day that I have been fearing for almost 3 years. The day that has caused me sleepless nights. The day that has caused my stomach to churn and twist into knots. Today was Will's IEP meeting. It is done. I survived....barely!

All kidding aside, it was okay. I cried, but we all knew that I would. Will's goals are set and Josh and I feel comfortable with everything that they have set for him. He will be going to school 5 days a week for 3 hours each day. He will be in a room where he will have a one on one aid, which we are very happy about. The only concern that I have is that they will only be working on feeding during snack time at school. We are going to have to look into some other outside therapy for feeding. He will be riding the bus to school and I am going to pick him up.

I think that he is going to excel in school and hopefully his language with blossom (whether it be through speech, sign or pictures). We are excited about the school year.

Oh, and the most important thing discussed at the meeting today...

Yes, Mr. Cow can go to school too. Shoooo, we were worried about that one! ;-)

Feeding update....

The other day the kids and I went to Josh's softball game (he plays with his co-workers on a slow-pitch softball team) and one of the other kids was having goldfish crackers. Will walked over to the Mom and held out his hand, he wanted one. She gave him one, he put it in his mouth and started chewing. I was watching and waiting for the spit out but let he walk around and play while eating the cracker. IT NEVER CAME OUT!!! He went back for four more crackers and none of them came out. I was in shock!

I told his OT about it at his session the next day and she suggested we go outside and let him play while we give him more crackers to see if it happens again. He ate nearly 20 freaking crackers!!

I have no idea what this means but I like it! Maybe he only swallows standing up! Who knows!! But now I know that he CAN and he WILL eat solids! Oh, I have also found that he likes chocolate pudding! He ate almost an entire snack pack container the other day! Baby steps...Baby steps...
