Earrings and Hello Kitty

Caroline has been asking to get her ears pierced for a few weeks now. The first time that she asked I told her that we should talk about it in a week and see if she still wants to do it. I was very up front with her and told her that it was going to hurt. The pain would go away fast but it would hurt. I also told her that if she got one ear pierced she had to get the other one done too. She said that she still wanted to do it and that she was going to be brave and get her ears pierced.

So we picked out the earrings and she waited bravely in the chair for the lady to get ready.

One last picture of her naked earlobe...

Aunt Teresa was there to hold her hand...

The lady was ready to go...

And she got her ear pierced...

At this point she refused to get the other ear pierced. She was screaming, yelling, kicking and almost hyperventilating. Her exact words, "we need to go and get out of here Mom!" My heart was breaking for her but I reminded her that she was the one that wanted them done and that the deal was that she had to do both ears. I knew that it wasn't going to go well when she screamed in the young woman's face that was piercing her ears. So my Sister in law, Andrea and I tried holding her down, it was NOT happening. So we had to pull out the BIG guns, HELLO KITTY. There was a Hello Kitty store right next door, so Teresa ran over and got this Hello Kitty stuffed animal that Caroline was eyeing when we were over there. Once Caroline laid eyes on the Hello Kitty doll, she sat still and had the other ear pierced.

Here she is, showing off her new lobes! ...plus a tear or two.

This happened yesterday, today she says that she is very happy that she got them done and that they don't hurt or anything!

Good job Caroline! That's the same "forgetfulness" that allowed me to have more than one kid! ;)

Awww, beautiful Caroline! I'm impressed! I think it's great that you let her too, my mom made me wait until the old age of 10. I still haven't forgiven her. :-p

You did a great job capturing the moment! I don't think Ava wants her ears pierced after showing her the pictures. Kelly F
