Help

I found Will sitting on this crock (it is where I keep my magazines) while he was watching Sesame Street. He thinks it is a great place to have a seat but can't get down on his own.

I got my camera and asked him "Will do you need help?"

This was his answer...

He signed HELP!! This is our modified version of the sign "help". The usual "help" sign requires using both hands and that is too hard for Will so we taught him to raise his hand (like kids do at school when they need help).

I think he looks so cute using his signs! Not to mention looking like a big boy!! And COMMUNICATING!!!!

A first

Caroline is going to her first playdate without me with her today. She is going to her friend Savanna's house after school. She is so excited, it has been the only thing she talks about for a week now. I know that she is going to have fun. I am kind of sad that I will not be there to see her play with her friend but she is a big girl now.

I will update later today when she gets home.

UPDATE: The playdate went very well. When I got there to pick her up she wasn't ready to go but left without any fits. She told me that they played Barbies, Princesses, played outside and played store. Oh, and she had chicken fries for lunch. ;-) I believe that she had a fabulous time!!

Lilo and The Stitch

So it's not quiet Halloween, but I couldn't resist posting these pictures!! Here are Will and Caroline in their Halloween costumes. They are dressed as Lilo and Stitch!!! Aren't they so cute?

My Mom made Caroline's Lilo costume because I couldn't find one that actually looked like Lilo. I found Will's Stitch costume on Ebay. Daggum, they are cute!!

I couldn't get too many good pictures of the two of them together, Will, I mean, Stitch was not having any of it. I hope to get more on Friday during trick or treat!

Colds and Cows

I took Will to the doctor today. He has a very bad cold. He is coughing like mad and has a runny nose. He is having trouble eating and sleeping. Eating because he can't breathe through his nose so he is unable to drink from his cup. He is gagging on his mucus so when we tube feed him he will gag and vomit. He is not sleeping because of the breathing issues and the drainage. The doctor head some wheezing on one side so she wanted us to get a chest x-ray. We went to Cardinal Glennon and had the x-ray. The x-ray was normal, no pneumonia (praise the Lord).

We are doing breathing treatments and a decongestant. I pray that it gets better soon.

On the way out of the hospital I stopped in the gift shop. I have been on the look out for a back up Mr. Cow for some time now with no luck. The thing is looking pretty nasty and it is not going to last through too many more washes so I wanted to have a back up just in case.

I told Caroline that I doubted that they would have one but we would take a look. We walked in and looked around, Caroline spotted it! There he was, a brand new Mr. Cow! I took it to the counter to pay for it and laughed as I paid for it. I told the lady working why we were buying it and showed her our Mr. Cow and she thought it was so funny.
It is pretty funny how different the new one looks compared to the old one. You can definitely tell where Will's favorite spots are!!
I am so glad that I found it today!!!

Sleep Study

Will had his sleep study done on the 16th. I can sum it all up for you in one word, nightmare! We got there at 7:30pm and the tech started to get him "wired up". That was just awful. There were wires coming out of everywhere. I tried to put him to sleep at around 9pm. The tech put a pulse-ox thingy on his finger (the thing that makes your finger glow red), Will thought it was a hoot. He sat in the crib for about 30 to 40 minutes looking at his finger glowing. He finally fell asleep at about 10:30pm (2 and a half hours past bedtime). He woke up there after, every hour on the hour. It was hard to console him because 1) the cribs are high and I am short so getting him off of the bed to hold him is always a struggle and 2) he had a hundred and fifty wires attached to him that were attached to a little machine in his bed. I would pick him up and we would both be tangled in wires.
(the next morning, you can just tell that he didn't sleep well.)
We were able to leave at 6:30 the next morning. I was in a "no sleep" fog and on the way home I got a speeding ticket (1 mile away from our house). Nice! So the sleep study cost me a night's sleep and 75 dollars.
We still haven't gotten the results of the sleep study, I will let you know when I find out.

An Old Friend

Today Will had a renal ultrasound to check his kidneys (all looked good) and then we saw urology (all fine). What a surprise we had.

There was a resident that was on his surgical rotation when Will had his malrotation surgery who always called Will "Bill" , he is now on his urology rotation and we got to see him again today!! He was the doctor that I hoped would be on call when we had our many visits to the ER because of the vomiting and such. He has always been so good to us and treated Will with such care.

He walked into the room and said "How is Bill doing?" and I knew exactly who he was. It was so great to see him, he is an excellent doctor. He was so thrilled at how well Will is doing and was in awe at how he was getting into everything and running around. It was so great to see him today!

Ms. Holly

Will's OT, Ms. Robyn has had a student coming with her for about 2 months now. Ms. Holly is going to school to be an OT and she has been learning some of the ropes from Ms. Robyn. Today was Ms. Holly's last day visiting Will. Here are some pictures that I took of the two of them today.
Holly-
You are going to be an excellent Occupational Therapist. You are such a sweet, kind and loving person. The OT profession is lucky to have you. Good luck in everything that you do and keep reading "Lilo and The Stitch"!! We will miss you!
Love~
Will and Myssie ;-)

What's Happening...

I don't know what has been wrong with me lately. I am suffering from BloggingBlock I guess. Sorry folks.

Nothing too exciting has been happening around here. Josh's brother, Ryan and his family are coming to stay with us this week. They are arriving tonight and staying until Friday. Ryan took a new job in StL and he starts on Wednesday. Andrea and the kids are coming to hang out and to possibly look for housing. We are so very excited about them moving closer to us, I am almost giddy! The kids are going to have so much fun together this week and Andrea and I will get to hang out. It is going to be fun!

Now, if only they would get here already...Caroline has asked me about million times today "When is James and Ruthie going to be here??"

Will has some appointments this week, tomorrow actually. And then the sleep study on Thursday night. Yikes!!

Kisses...

On Friday of last week, Will gave me my first kiss. I was in shock. I asked him to give Momma a kiss and he put his lips together and did the ummmm sound then touched my lips with his. It was so cute. I have waited 2 years for that moment. Priceless.

Now that I know he can do it, I am constently asking him to give me a kiss. Sometimes I get one and other times I get the "yeah right, Momma!" look. I love it!

Also in the last few weeks he has signed "help" and "please". Woo Hoo! He is also saying "again" and "more". He is doing great!

You are a smart, beautiful, caring, thoughtful and loving child. You have brought me so much joy in your five years. I am so proud of the many things that you can do. You are a thinker, you want to know why and how, I love that. You are an artist, your drawings are fabulous. You love to dance, either at ballet class or in the living room watching Dancing with the Stars. You are the BEST big sister. Your brother loves you so much and you are so good to him. I am proud of you for being so patient with him and loving him more than anything. You are a good girl and I love you to the moon and back!
